Flapper not slapper

I went to a 1920s prohibition party yesterday. It was organized by the same people who did the amazing 40s Blitz party so I had high expectations of a great night of sipping whiskey from tea cups and a spot of gambling. Unfortunately it turned out less a vintage lover’s dream but just an average club night with most of the women confusing the idea of flapper with wearing corsets and Pocahontas feather headband. No, didn’t like it.

I went to a London Blitz party yesterday and danced the night away to swing bands while clutching my ration book.

Pony girl

I almost choked on my coffee when I came across Berlin label Pony Maedchen. If I could (read: if I was rich enough not to work or not having to care about looking like a semi-respectable person), I would wear fancy dress on a daily basis. I have high hopes that when I’m old and retired I will be able to gamble away my childrens’ inheritance in Vegas hooked up to a portable oxygen tank and dressed as Wonder Woman. A girl must have dreams!

Pony Maedchen has all the right ingredients: it’s girly, it’s retro, it’s fun, oh bollocks to respectability!

Some like it hot

It was my 1950s Hollywood murder mystery party yesterday. What a brilliant night, all my friends turned up in full on costumes and got into the spirit of things.

1920s Party

My friend Hannah had a 1920s cocktail party this Saturday. Much like the ever stylish and beautiful Agathe from Style Bytes, who as it happened also had a 1920s party, we fussed for hours over our costumes, make-up and hair.
