Style muse: Lou Doillon

September 3, 2008 · 3 Comments

I know this is such an obvious one, but how could anyone resist her wild child charm?

With her family background (her mother is Jane Birkin, her father French film maker Jacques Doillon and she is a half-sister to Charlotte Gainsbourg) it isn’t really surprising that Lou Doillon, at 26, has become a style icon the world over.

I love her style, a wild mix between French designers, vintage and flea market accessories, because it’s always a little fancy dress, somehow following a theme or cultural reference. This isn’t a conventional beauty or someone who dresses to confirm. As she says herself: “It’s better not to look your best so that people can imagine that the best is really much better.”

Lou’s range for jeans brand Lee Couper is available online.

My Luella envy continues

September 3, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I should have never ventured out during my lunch break. I somehow always end up on Oxford Street, stumbling across one thing or another I can’t afford. This time, I just couldn’t walk past Urban Outfitters. That inevitably meant checking out, if they had any new additions to the Luella collection. They did…

I tried on this little blue short sleeved sweater and high wasted tweed skirt. It took about 20 minutes of intense deliberating (I could technically afford it, if I could manage to not use any electricity for the next 3 months, that’s totally do-able, I mean romantic evenings in candlelight, cold showers are good for you…) before I left empty handed.

The Queen is never wrong

Libery of London, a brand created around Liberty’s mind blowing collection of prints, has just opened its new flagship store on London’s Sloane Street. So far, the collection has included scarves, stationery, jewellery, swimwear, lingerie, menswear and homewear, but I seriously hope they will venture into womenswear soon.

Given their so-hot-right now campaign picture, all latex tights and heritage print jacket, this brand could really go all the way.

For now, their bags give me enough to lust after anyways.
