Because she understands style and clothes as means of exploring identity and individuality. Because she likes dressing up. Because she shows that femininity cannot be defined through fashion and image. Because she shows that beauty is only a social concept. Because she makes me want to dress up in a different costume every day.

My friend Rachel sent me this Guardian link about eco friendly and ethical wedding dressing. Out of all the dresses featured, the ones I really like and would wear straight away (and not just to a wedding) are those by Ciel.
Flattering, well designed and delicate, these frocks are fashionable indeed – their eco friendliness a mere bonus.

I really like the quirky a/w collection by Christian Joy. Partly rockabilly, partly country cowgirl with some seriously puffy skirts and dresses, it still manages to come out as a coherent collection. Not into the harem clown pants though.

Christian also does all the costumes for the amazing Karen O., singer of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Inspired by a lovely gift of Melissa shoes, I’ve checked out the Melissa website and oh, ah, they really do make the most amazing plastic shoes. Lucky me to have the best model already!

I have been checking out tights today.I can just tell by the murky weather looming outside, I will be stuck in 80-dens for the next few months.
As always mytights.com has some great options. I like:
But I am not sure about these. One second I’m thinking tacky as hell, no ways, then again I like both pin-ups and sausage dogs…

I just love this Paul Smith print dress. It’s loud and out there but the print really reminds me of those German 1950s romance films set in Italy, where some sort of bearded artist falls in love with a pretty industrialist’s daughter.

Why have I never heard of Paule Ka before? This is one of the best labels I have ever come across, love love love it! There are so many pieces in the current a/w collection I would buy. Simple, tailored dresses and jackets kept in grey, black, white or red with dots of electric blue and adorned with bow details and clever gathering. Not to mention the towering black bondage heels. I am in awe.

I have been staring at this vintage 1940’s cape at Etsy all morning. Just how amazing are the big, square shoulders! How great would this look with a simple black wrap dress and the yellow Westwood shoes. Ahhhh…

At the moment I am seriously loving Faye Dunaway in Bonnie & Clyde. Her knit tops, beret, pencil skirt and scarf make her look more like a secretary than bad girl on the run. That’s exactly why she looks so effortlessly cool in this film – admittedly the cigarette and gun help too…

Since my favourite pair of trainers is beyond repair with holes everywhere, I have decided to invest in some new ones.
I love these Vans Syndicate, which were designed with the help of legendary skater Steve Olson. Simplistic but oh so cool.
